About Bristol Harbour Resort
Bristol Harbour Resort is nestled on top of a mountain just south of the small rustic town of Canandaigua, just 30 miles southeast of Rochester, NY, and 90 miles from Niagara Falls. As you wind up the mountain to the resort property, the beauty of the drive instantly grabs your attention. You’re suddenly enveloped in the quiet and peacefulness of the surroundings, yet the resort has so much to offer. Greeting you first is our award winning Robert Trent Jones 18 hole championship golf course.
The clubhouse is home to a gourmet restaurant and tavern, as well as our well stocked golf pro shop. When you crest the mountain you’re stunned by the view of Canandaigua Lake and the scenic panoramic view. Our 31 room authentic Adirondack style resort hotel stands tall on the property with views of the glacier carved lake from your room.

When I first found Bristol Harbour I fell in love with the location, view and the Great Room. Sara and her staff were wonderful and accommodating. You can truly tell she loves what she does! The location and view can’t be beat. We were able to get married on the terrace overlooking the lake in December and our guests were quite comfortable with the new outdoor heaters. Our reception was in the Great Room which was beautiful and I was hard-pressed to find any other venue with a room so modern, simple and elegant. The food was excellent (and I will say the prime rib is HUGE). My wedding guests booked up the entire resort and we received many compliments about the rooms, service and the resort in general. We stayed in one of the cottages which worked beautifully for getting ready on the wedding day! Overall I couldn’t be happier to use Bristol Harbour Resort for our wedding and we hope to be back many times in the future!
Our experience with Bristol Harbour was exceptional. We had a very different style of wedding, opting for a Thursday morning wedding followed by a brunch, with a separate dance party that evening. With this option, we didn’t have to pay the room fees normally required for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday crowd. Also the hotel rooms were much cheaper for our guests during the week. This place is a wedding factory, pumping out multiple weddings every weekend during the summer and by picking an off day, we were able to have the full attention of the resort for both us and our guests and the flexibility to do things differently. The coordinator at Bristol Harbour is phenomenal and I have no doubt she can handle any challenge. Every idea we had, she either said they’d done it, or could do it without any hesitation which gave us a lot of confidence in the resort. She really made our experience with the resort top notch. The morning of the event she was right there, coordinating us down the aisle, and getting guests to where they needed to be. I would overwhelmingly recommend the resort to any bride.
Pros: The amazing location cannot be beat and the uniqueness of the resort really stands out from other options. The staff at this resort was among the best. Everyone we met from the resort left us with a good feeling. Waitstaff, bartenders, front desk, and cleaning staff were all friendly and accommodating in every respect. The resort has top notch accommodations. I would recommend the cabins for getting ready in as there is more room than the hotel rooms. For guests with mobility problems, do recommend they reserve rooms on the first or second floor as there are no elevators. Each room is clean and has access to the porch. There are many things for guests to do on location: Golf, pool, lakeside, boat slips. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful everything was. The food was great for all three of our individual parties. We did buffet’s for each one so I cannot comment on the plated meals.
A few things I didn’t like. Them being located in NY wine country, and not offering a finger lakes wine with any of the bar packages, we had to pay per bottle to add a finger lakes Riesling to our bar menu. Then they have an absurd markup on their wines! For example, a Bully Hill wine in the store ~$7 is ~24 per bottle in the restaurant or for your bar, and they don’t cut you a deal for your party. The top shelf bar doesn’t include some liquors you might expect, for example SoCo, so ask about that. The onsite restaurant is somewhat pricey, however the food they serve is great but it might be a concern for some guests on a budget.
Again, everything about our stay and wedding at Bristol was beyond our expectations.
From the moment that I walked into the Bristol Harbour Resort to look at it as a perspective place for the reception, I knew THIS IS THE PLACE! First off, Sara Goff is INCREDIBLY supportive and helpful. She was organized and helped me through the whole process. We used the Great Room and had about 215 guests that fit so comfortably. The food was DELICIOUS (we did a served dinner). The room is so beautiful and it looks over the lake. The bridal party arrived a little before the cocktail hour started to take photos, so Sara took me into the room so I could take it all in before it was filled with people. Oh, it was stunning. She set up everything exactly as I wanted and I was speechless as to how everything came together so well! The room is beautiful just by its self. You do not need to add much! Its a great mix of classy and rustic, which worked nicely for my husband as I am from New York and he is from Minnesota. I can not express how much I loved having my reception here! YOU SHOULD DO IT! Seriously, its the best and it will just make the day that much more special.
