About Jay Terkel Photography
The Jay Terkel Photography love of photography started as a desire to photograph wildlife. In college, Jay studied both photography and filmmaking, along with journalism, biology and management. While in college, the college newspaper’s photo editor asked him to help out on the paper, and that where it all started. Jay soon became photo editor of the college paper. The former editor opened a studio, and Jay started working part time for him.
From the college classes and the teaching by his mentor, Jay was able to open his studio in 1977. There have been many changes in photography over the years, and Jay Terkel Photography has continued to learn and grow by attending seminars, workshops, and conventions.
Jay still enjoys wildlife photography, and has taught community education classes on wildlife and zoo photography.

We cannot say enough about how amazing Jay Terkel is to work with. He incredibly talented, a joy to work with and our pictures turned out better than we could have ever imagined.
Spectacular! This was the first time that I had worked with a professional photographer at an event (my wedding!), and Jay has set the bar very, very high! He was professional, extremely well organized and communicative, and made the entire process an absolute pleasure! The most important part- the photos- were stunning. Better than I could have hoped, they look like they should be in a magazine! We can’t wait to work with him again for a family photo shoot!
Jay was great, couldn’t be happier with our wedding photos! He was well organized, listened to what we wanted and produced amazing photos that captured perfect moments!
If you’re looking at wedding photographers your search is over. Jay not only captured our wedding beautifully but he honestly made the day (and entire wedding experience) better. He’s incredibly professional, sincere, thorough and positive. He fielded tons of questions from us and answered all of them with patience and detail. The bottom line is that a lot of things can go wrong with a wedding but we were confident, and eventually proven right, that with Jay leading our photography we would end up with stunning pictures and a stress-free experience.
